Hoi An is a rustic, quaint city divided by a slow moving river. The streets are lined with tailoring shops. It’s the go-to city to have any suit, dress or clothing piece custom designed and sewed. Hoi An is a colorful city. Most buildings are painted yellow detailed with wooden shutters.
The streets don’t allow motorcycles during certain times of the day. This creates the perfect area to stroll through and do some window shopping.
Whenever you feel hungry there are countless little cafes’ and restaurants. Menus are filled with a variety of Vietnamese noodles, rice dishes, spring rolls and Western dishes of burgers, pizza, and sandwiches to fill almost any craving.
While waiting for your custom made clothing to be finished it’s possible to take a long-boat ride down the river, consider it the gondola of Vietnam. Or follow the crowds and continue strolling through the alleys to admire the handmade trinkets and unique souvenirs.
Hoi An definitely differs from the rest of the cities in Vietnam. You can easily get lost wandering and shopping. Spending a day or two at the beach is a must!
Most people rent a scooter or some bicycles and ride through the rice fields on the outskirts of town. It gives you the complete Vietnam scenery that is found on every postcard.
After spending a few days in Hoi An we packed up once again and continued on the road. A-Hue’ we go! 😉
